Professional Profile

Sandra Still earned a BA in English from Agnes Scott College and an MA and PhD in English Literature and English History (through the ILA) from Emory. Her first career was in retail bookselling in Atlanta; her second was in publishing in New York, where she was in showroom sales at Crown Publishing and then became an editor and finally editorial director at W. H. Smith Publishing.

Sandra returned to Atlanta in 1991 and began her work at Emory’s Robert W. Woodruff Library during 1993 in Acquisitions. She acquired out-of-print materials and became Gifts Coordinator before becoming the library liaison to Women’s Studies in 1998.  From 1998 to 2000, she also served on the Art History Team and selected materials for 19th- and 20th-century European art and architecture. In 2002, she became the liaison to the English Department, and now continues as librarian for British and American Literature.

Sandra’s current interests include working with the Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (MARBL) to acquire poetry collections, fine-press books incorporating poetry and art, and contemporary artists’  books of interest to an ever-expanding audience.
